I Hate Google. Download the Google Buster Here!
I hate Google. Words you'll hear from few people, as Google seems to be everyones favorite little company right now. Google can do no wrong, Google has the smartest people in the world, Google is God. Bullshit.
Google is a one hit wonder, and their search isn't any better than any of their competitors (I much prefer http://search.yahoo.com for results and http://www.live.com for UI).
Google seems to have a horrible track record in nearly every respsect. Their insiders are dumping the stock in hoards, they give away "Google Stock Units" instead of real shares to their employees (so it doesn't hit the balance sheets until a few years from now), and worst of all, they collaborate with the Chinese government while telling the US government to go fly a kite.
What about Google as a company? Well, for a company as wealthy as Google, what products can be named from them. They have search down, but what else? GMail, Maps, sure they've made some cool little javascript toys, but can you really call any of them "applications". Seems to me two years from an IPO they are struggling with lack of vision and no management. The "quarter time" that people get for their "own projects" seems to do nothing but give Google sporatic, half complete ideas.
So, What's so special about Google? Well, it feels an aweful lot like the 90's when people got rich on meaningless stocks. Given that history repeats itself, perhaps its a good time to short.
In any case, to finish my rant, I'll leave you with a link, and my new tool (still in beta), that is destined to take the world by storm.
- Fucked Google - A blog logging the events in the life of Google so we can all track the failure.
- Google Buster - A new, Web 2.0 (okay, just kidding, its a .NET 2.0 Winforms) tool to help you bust out of your habit of typing "Google"!)
- NOTE: Google Buster will modify your hosts file. The Google Buster comes with a readme with uninstall instructions for your convenience. Google Buster is safe and easy to use, and comes with a crappy UI, like most Google products.
